Originally the brainchild of Red Hot’s Annie Sowden, Up The Creek has been rocking on since 1990. What started out as a whim has grown into a thriving, thronging music event that has put Red Hot Events on the map as one of Cape Town’s leading festival management companies.
In January of every year, “Creekers” make their way from Cape Town, and from all over South Africa, to the Breede River near Swellendam in the Western Cape. The Breede River bank swells with up to 3000 festivalgoers and provides an incredible venue where music lovers can kick back and listen to South Africa’s best, local music.
Up The Creek is a four-day music festival that comes with all the festival trimmings you might need, and then some. From food stalls to ablutions to camp sites to Heartbreak Motel (our tented hotel), festival attendees are sure to be happy, comfy and well taken care of. Three different stages play host to 40 live acts that cover a wide range of genres, including rock, pop, folk, indie and even a few late-night electronic artists. Honestly, there’s something for everyone. Between the top-notch music line-up, the beautiful Breede River, and the majestic surrounding landscape, we guarantee that all your senses will be revived and stimulated.
