As one of the world’s most recognisable, iconic malletiers, our client called for a set-up that was aligned with the status and standards with which they are associated.

For one of their campaigns, our client was filming an advertisement in a remote location found 200km outside of Uppington – a location so remote that it doesn’t even really have a name. This posed logistical challenges that forced us to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty. Literally.

Our offering included the set-up and décor for 25 luxury tents, twenty three of which were set up for single VIP’s, with the remaining two being set up for VVVVIP’s. Think authentic Africa styling on steroids.

The location for our luxury tented village was situated alongside the Molopo Kalahari Lodge, which is located in the Green Kalahari, 60km from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. If the world “Kalahari” conjures images of soaring daytime heat, freezing night-time cold, and fine, Kalahari sand in every zipper and skin fold, that sounds about right. Add to this a group who is accustomed to the finer things in life and you have an indication of the degree of challenge involved. And, did we mention at we were given the go-ahead in the 11th hour? This meant working around the clock, staging and labelling each and every tent set-up in its entirety at our headquarters before packing each and every item onto two 8 tonne trucks that were bound for a very distant horizon.

In only a few hours, with four local hired hands helping our Red Hot duo, we managed to erect and style twenty five tents. Each of these tents were fitted with a double bed, director’s chairs, ottomans, throws, scatter cushions, tables, vases, heaters, Nespresso coffee machines, and all manner of other décor items that would make the inhabitants feel comfortable and looked after. Working alongside Felix Unite who supplied the tents, we delivered a 5-Star experience that exceeded our client’s – and even our own – expectations.

Despite working against natural elements that weren’t always on our side, with grit and good spirits we pulled it off. Hey, and now we know that we can do it all again if we have to.
