The Red Leaf Bistro at Beyerskloof Wine Estate in Stellenbosch was the venue selected to host an stylish luncheon for 75 people. Our client, a subsidiary of a JSE listed Services, Trading and Distribution Company had previously made use of our event services for one of their awards events. They were so bowled over by our previous work that, in a New York minute, they signed us up to take care of their luncheon.
At our pre-event site visit, we noticed that The Red Leaf Bistro offered us good “bones” that we could easily work with. The restaurant offered a space that we could make our own and totally transform. Embracing the mood, architecture and earthy tones of the existing structure, our look-and-feel concept incorporated the Bistro’s signature red vine leaf and built on it.
Light, airy, slightly raw and rustic with a Botanical twist, we stripped the restaurant of all existing furniture and replaced it with our own luxurious pieces. We brought in trees, pot plants and all manner of foliage to set a lush, leafy, floral scene. The seating plan was printed on rough canvass, and the rustic, earthy theme was a common thread that ran through all design elements – from the unpainted wooden, die-cut table name place cards, to the raw wood charger plates.
The event was an utter joy to both conceptualise and execute; our only real challenge was removing all the existing furniture to make space for our own pieces. Other than that, there was everything to love about this project: a trusting, hand-in-glove relationship with an awesome client, a beautiful location, a stunning theme, and happy guests.
Like proud parents, we’ve squirreled away the keepsakes and labour of our love as reminders of this beautiful event.
